In His Word
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." – Psalm 119:105

Psalm 23:2a – “green pastures”

2a He makes me lie down in green pastures;

23'2a – green pastures

Sheep are very timid and easily panicked.  They will not lie down unless they are free of all fear, tension, anxiety, and hunger.  It requires a diligent shepherd to remove these things from his sheep and make it possible for them to lie down.      Sheep want to lie down for about an hour in the morning every day.  Shepherds believe that sheep put on their weight then, when they lie down after eating.  If necessary, a shepherd will pull grass for a sheep so it can finish eating and lie down.

In Ezekiel 34 the Lord rebuked the shepherds of Israel for not caring for His sheep.  Then He said, “I will feed them in good pasture, and their fold shall be on the high mountains of Israel. There they shall lie down in a good fold and feed in rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down” (:14-15).  Today our Shepherd will provide the same care for us and allow us to peacefully lie down in the green pastures of His care.

Have a great day in His word!
