"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." – Psalm 119:105

1 Cor 13 – “the greatest of these is love”

Fri - church

In 1 Corinthians 12 and 14 Paul wrote about spiritual gifts.  As important as they were to the early church, exercising spiritual gifts without love was nothing but noise (13:1-2).  Giving everything – even yourself – without love leaves you as nothing (:3).  Even faith and hope are not as great as love (:13).  It is greater than anything else.

But what is love?  It is not simply an emotion but an action – or in some cases a lack of action.  Love is what leads one to be patient and kind.  It keeps one from being jealous or arrogant and bragging.  Love seeks what is best for the other person.  It “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  Love never fails” (:4-8).

Do you have love in your life?  If so, then others will know it by what they see you do.  “Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.” (1 John 3:18).

Have a great day in His word!
