Proverbs – “the rod of discipline”

2Tue - poetry3

Children can do some pretty foolish things.  How do we keep them from becoming foolish adults?  “Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of discipline will remove it far from him.” (Proverbs 22:15).  Do you want your child to be wise?  “The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother” (29:15).  Some people say, “But I love my child too much to discipline him/her.”  Remember, “He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.” (13:24).  What are you waiting for?  “Discipline your son while there is hope, and do not desire his death.” (19:18).  Discipline your child and “deliver his soul from Sheol” (23:13-14).

Have a great day in His word!
